In the last few years, smartphone camera technology has pretty
much replaced digital point-and-shoot cameras, offering comparable, even
superior performance in some cases. In addition, there are Android apps
to help you edit and ‘tweak’ your photos.
We thought we would share with you 5 of the best photo editing apps for Android that are worth checking out.
Autodesk have now released Pixlr, and we might add that the name really does tell it all. This is an editing photo app that is designed for those who want to do it fast. Pixlr has many different features like cosmetic editing (brightening, smoothing, and red-eye removal) or social sharing. If you want to save some additional time, there is frequently used tab that helps you to increase how fast you can edit.
Cymera is the perfect app for portraits, even though technically you can use Cymera for any type of photos. Take photos directly from within the Cymera app or, if you like, you can import them from your photo gallery.
Cymera provides you with four different recording modes that will immediately improve your photos, and seven different lenses. There are more than 20 portrait features, decorations, filters, and realistic make-up effects for you to use. Then you can share your photos on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr right from within the app.
Cymera is free, but you will have to tolerate the advertising, which is a small banner that displays at the bottom of the screen.
This is one of the most popular free photo editors available for the Android. PicsArt is available for free and provides a well-rounded solution. It is an excellent image editor that offers effects, drawing tool, a social platform, and a camera app. It also provides a superior design program for you to edit your photos with decorations and filters.
Share your completed masterpieces on most social media platforms along with email and text messaging. PicsArt has an internal social network like Instagram, where you can share your photo creations.
In addition to the standard functions for correcting, cropping, rotating, auto-enhancing, etc. this app also has text input, focus functions (tilt-shift), a meme generator, and cosmetic corrections (make-up, red eye, etc.). You can share your photos across the most popular social media platforms. Photo Editor by Aviary also provides some in-app purchases for additional frames, effects, and stickers, but otherwise it’s free with no advertising.
Vignette is not a pure photo editing app but rather a hybrid that includes a standalone camera app together with a self-timer, digital zoom, and time-lapse. The app’s focus is on vintage camera styles and effects. You can create pictures that look as if they were taken with a Diana, Holga, Lomo or Polaroid. In addition, there is a photo-machine mode and some double exposure settings. The Vignette image processing is limited to the camera effects because there is no cropping and rotating. One of the nicest features is that this app, unlike many of the others, offers all the functionality even when a data connection is unavailable.
The cost of Vignette is approximately US $3. You can also use the free demo version.
